Linz eats: Street Food Festival

Wersja polska

This weekend in Linz there is a Street Food Festival in Tabakfabrik. These festivals are already very popular everywhere and they finally arrived also to Linz. Not so long time ago there was another one in Hafen (harbour of Linz), but I wasn't in the city then and I couldn't check it out, so I was happy this time I could go. Tabakfabrik is an old cigarettes factory of Linz, now they organize many events and there is also a bar.

The festival is gonna last the whole weekend. We went yesterday to enjoy some after-work time and check how is it in the evening. One important information, you have to pay 5 EUR for the entrance, which is a bit weird for street food festivals, but at least the Fritz Lemonade is included.

We checked all the places, there are not that many, but you can surely find something that you like.

We choose two places two eat. First one was Peruvian Bro's, where we get a great Peruvian sandwich with pork, onion, lime juice, slice of sweet potato and coriander. It was juicy, full of tastes, of which each one was very intensive and simply great. We talked a bit with the guys, Peruvian brothers themselves. It turned out the food truck is only their hobby, they have regular jobs in Germany and during weekends they travel around Europe with their truck, selling Peruvian food. Real passion!

The other place where we ate was Fisch Futter. We get the Black Calamari Sandwich with squid, Cheddar cheese, onion marmelade, tomatoes and onion. It was good, but unfortunately I must say that the taste of the squid was not very intensive and it got killed by an excessive amount of some mayonnaise sauce. You couldn't also really feel the taste of the onion marmalade, shame, it could be really nice if it was really cooked so long they promised in menu. But in general it was nice and recommendable. Oh, and the bread was black (coloured with squid dye), matching with the design of the whole place. We got also the sweet potato chips, I liked them, actually more than the sandwich.

After eating we stayed there for a while longer and got some beers. In the evening the atmofphere was nice, there was more people and they started to play some music.

So if you are for the weekend in Linz and you wanna get something nice to eat, go and check the market! While doing that, DO NOT FORGET to visit the Peruvian guys. They have some amazing sandwiches there!
